Kimberly Buchoon is the founder of Bath Scent-sations. She creates handmade soap, skincare and aromatherapy products made with all natural ingredients and does much more.
Interview with Kimberly Buchoon, Founder of Bath Scent-sations.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am a 29 year old IT professional. I am a very warm and friendly person who loves doing things differently. I am self-motivated and love helping others in any way I can.
Tell us about your business, Bath Scent-sations and the products you make.
I make skin care products using all natural ingredients. Products can be tailored to match the needs of a customer.
I am self-taught. I love to read and this has proven to be quite fruitful for me. I try to incorporate a lot of local ingredients as well such as neem, turmeric, aloe and moringa. In addition to this, I try to keep my products eco-friendly and I also encourage customers to return jars and bottles for a sample size bar of soap free. I also use paper bags.
I make crystal infused soaps and candles and crystal grids, as well. I love doing the grids – I get to choose the crystals that feel right.
How long have you been making soaps and how did you get started?
Bath Scent-sations was born three years ago. It started with my curiosity in soap from scrolling through Pinterest looking for token ideas. After that, there was no stopping me. I started off experimenting with melt and pour then I moved on to cold process soap and finally liquid soap. I then decided to branch off into other areas such as body scrubs, face masks, serums, balms, body butters and candles. Making all these products allows for my creativity to reach new limits and I love that.
You are very multi-talented; you also make crystal grids. What are crystal grids exactly?
A crystal grid is the placing of stones in a sacred geometric pattern based on a specific intent/purpose/goal. The formation of ley-lines creates a very strong vortex of Life Force energy
How does it work?
The energy of the crystals, the geometric pattern, and your intention all work as one energy toward a common goal. The grids assist your energetic body/space in tuning your vibrational frequency to allow that which is your intention to physically manifest. When you are in vibrational alignment with your desires and intentions, deep healing & manifestation occur!
Crystal grids are an incredible way to direct energy, pulling light, health and healing in through the crystal’s core and directing it into a person or space. Grids can do far more than protect your home. They work wonders on the human body and chakra system.
These crystals help you access information from your higher self.
What other areas do you specialize in?
I make crystal infused soaps and candles and chakra soaps and candles. I also do reiki – I am a level 1 currently on my second level.
What do you love the most about creating your own beauty and personal care product lines?
I love that I can get as creative as I want. I can use a variety of colours and scents and with soaps and candles, every flaw is a design. I love reading and coming up with new recipes, etc.
What inspires you to create?
People, outdoors, health articles. Sometimes I lay in bed and ideas just hit me.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Go for it!! Don’t ever give up because you think it’s already out there.
