Apps for Newborn Babies

Like most new parents, you are probably going through the unique experience of realizing that you have a million layers of planning and preparation. Sure, you did tons of prep during the pregnancy, and you already have everything you need. But being responsible for a tiny, beautiful new life is a profound responsibility. You need to be ready for absolutely anything. From baby hiccups to earthquake safety, parents of newborns are often driven more than a little crazy with the need to be prepared, and not just because of the sleep deprivation.

Here we’ll take a look at a great combo of six single-purpose baby apps that will keep you on your infant-parenting game and keep your worries in check.

WebMD Baby

Even before the baby is born, parents are often obsessed with questions like how to baby-proof the home, what’s safe for babies to eat, and what toys can they give a baby at different stages of development. After your infant is born, every hiccup and gurgle leaves you running for Google to make sure your baby is OK.

As Educational App Store notes, with WebMD Baby you don’t have to be on Google all the time. The WebMD Baby app includes a curated and comprehensive set of resources just for parents of infants, from what’s safe for babies to eat to how to identify rashes and illness. You can even ask a pediatrician and get online medical advice without rushing to an emergency room if your baby gets a temperature or an upset tummy.

Chatbooks

A popular way to convert digital photos into prints in book form is with a fantastic app called Chatbooks, which allows you to upload images from your phone, Facebook, Instagram, Google accounts and other sources. The app uses technology that gives you control to sort out blurry and dark photos so that you will be left with the best ones for your photo book. Plus it’s super easy to use – in less than five minutes you’ll be able to order a photo book, which is delivered right to your door. The service is affordable, too. A 6×6-inch book starts at $10 for a 30-page print, and more pages can be ordered for 20 cents a page.

Cloud Baby Monitor

Baby monitoring is incredibly important. Being able to see your baby even while they are asleep in their crib or awake in their play carrier is essential to attentive parenting. While you may have a fancy baby monitor and an app to go with it, Cloud Baby Monitor is your go-to backup solution. It can use any Apple or Android device as the camera and connect to any other device so you can always keep an eye on your baby. It has two-way communication and can play your baby music and white noise, and motion alerts to tell you when your baby wakes up. Cloud Baby Monitor also has BlueTooth settings so that you can keep an eye on your baby even when Wi-Fi is down or not available.

Eat Sleep

Baby tracking is a big part of newborn parenting. The right baby tracker can help you avoid losing your mind or forgetting essential details, and the wrong baby tracker can make your head reel with too many details. Eat Sleep is the perfect balance, with categorized notes about when your baby eats, sleeps, goes through diapers, and any other notes you’d like to take.

Eat Sleep is particularly helpful for breastfeeding mothers, as it keeps track of the side your baby fed on right at the top of your interface. You can also track multiple children through Eat Sleep in case you have young children close in age or are babysitting.

The Wonder Weeks Milestone Memories

Then, of course, there’s an app for cataloging all your baby’s most precious moments. The Wonder Weeks Milestone Memories app has a big name for a very simple and rewarding function: It tracks photos of your baby on a timeline and keeps track of their most important milestones. “Milestone” makes it easy to note which photos are of your baby’s first steps, their first words, and their first holidays, and it will also tell you about what time to expect these developments in your infant. It then puts all these things together into a digital milestone memory book that you can flip through together and share with relatives.

Redfin App

Okay, this one isn’t strictly for your newborn, but it can make the home-buying process a little easier for parents who are looking for a new home. The Redfin app comes packed with a number of great features that make finding what you’re looking for a breeze. Once you’ve used the app’s search filters to narrow down your list of options, you can use the virtual tour feature to check out properties without having to spend any time away from your baby. You’ll still need to work with a real estate agent once you find a home that strikes your fancy, but this app can make “shopping” for a home as simple as possible.

With the right apps in hand, even the most frazzled parent of a newborn can keep track of all the important parenting tasks. Use this suite of single-purpose baby apps to know exactly what’s up at all times without getting lost in a complicated all-in-one interface.
